Regent’s Park Cyclists has received this fantastic poem from an anonymous source. In addition to there being no named author, there was no title given to the piece so it has been called “The Rhyme of The Regent’s Park Cyclist”. We hope you all enjoy and please share and Tweet to all your friends!
The Rhyme Of The Regent’s Park Cyclist
Around in a circle, we like to go
Some going fast, riding for show
Early in the mornings, before others come
As the sun rises, we are having our fun.
Stopping at lights, catching our breath
Sweat in our eyes, feeling like death
Heart rate high, breathing feels hard
Need to ride more, shed some lard
A central London road, safe from cars & trucks
Grade 1 listed terraces surround, costing big bucks
Recovery spin, chat-laps or pace-line,
Club kit, aero boots or backpack and steady time
It was all a Nash plan, we have him to thank for it
A Central London space, for cyclists, a very big hit
MAMILS come along and plenty of female groups
Boris bikes, disabled riders, all doing loops
New faces come, learn to ride their bike,
With those tree-lined roads, what’s not to like?
CC London meet there, always full of smiles,
It’s the morning routine, to clock up some miles,
Rapha CC doing circles, Islington CC and more,
Passing the Zoo once again, it’s never a bore,
Les Rouleurs get out early, at 5.45 they ride,
Muswell hill club colours though, nowhere to hide,
Cherry Trees coming back, cyclists playing their part,
When Frieze is in town, the place is full to the brim with art,
Cyclist keep circling, come sun, sleet or rain,
Getting the heart pumping, they love to train,
Dulwich Paragon, London Phoenix and 5th floor,
Finsbury Park CC, Baroudeurs, Tri London and more,
This community is an Olympic Legacy, Brad, Cav & Hoy,
Riding our bikes in a circle, it’s just our daily joy
